Amsterdam, Holland
A very interesting place…people are very friendly, I don’t know why. Maybe they’re stoned. Walking through shops, you can be looking at children’s slippers and on the next shelf down, they would be displaying bongs, sex toys and other stuff. It was hilarious.
We took a canal cruise and did see many interesting buildings such Anne Frank House, the house was right a long the canal. Some of the pictures are places that were not explained to us but we thought were quite unique. The boats in the water along the canal are actually houses. People were working on boats or just relaxing and reading the paper.
We tried some of the local cuisine. Erwtensoep..thick pea soup with sausage and pork added. With that soup you got a small bacon sandwich…RAW bacon sandwich. The soup was good but we didn’t eat the bacon. Also, we had pepper steak, that was good and we had something called bitterballs..when you cut them open..you wanted to puke…but they were pretty good. Looked like someone has already eaten them.
Okay so now onto the Red light district. The mannequins in the windows were moving…just kidding they were real women. All shapes and sizes and wearing little or nothing. It was interesting how most people ignored them. I guess you’ve seen one prostitute you’ve seen them all.
Transportation is mostly bikes and scooters. One picture shows a bike parking ramp that holds up to 25,000 bikes. That’s was only one of many bike parking ramps. People fairy to and from home. You have a better chance of getting hit by a bike than a car. We’ve never seen so many bikes in one place.
One picture from the canal cruise is of the seven arches and the bridge that ‘s up is called the skinny bridge.
Last night we didn’t sleep through dinner (amazing), went to a show and then went dancing. All in all it was a wonderful day.
