Valletta, Malta

In the middle of the Mediterranean sea, Malta has be been occupied and influenced by many cultures from the past. From Carthage, The Romans, the Arabs, Normans French and Spanish. Most recently the British controlled Malta until their independence in 1964. Today September 21st is Malta’s Independence day. They are having parades through out the day and fireworks tonight.
This an absolutely beautiful country. Malta is about 50 miles south of Sicily.
The pictures are random photos as we toured Valletta by a horse drawn carriage. You can see new construction as well as ancient building.
Many of the Maltese buses are from the 50’s and 60’s. You’ll see from the photos the fun and funny views of several buses.
Finally…we found doggies. Yeah!!! The people are extremely friendly and most speak English.
The local cuisine is interesting…rabbit, , bragioli (beef roll) and Gbejiniet a locally produced goat cheese.  We tried only the bragioli to compare it with our own version...it was not very good.
Finally included a picture of the ship we're on.  It's the biggest of the two.
The vegetation is very similar to Arizona.  You'll see cactus, etc.
